Glen Ord Distillery

Muir of Ord, Ross-shire

Editorial verification pending4.6 (847)

Founded 1838 on the Black Isle, home to The Singleton of Glen Ord, one of Asia's best-selling single malts.

Glen Ord Distillery was founded in 1838 by Thomas Mackenzie on a stretch of land owned by Clan Mackenzie in the fertile Black Isle of the Northern Highlands. It is one of the oldest distilleries in the region and one of the few remaining distilleries on the Black Isle. Glen Ord is home to The Singleton of Glen Ord, one of the best-selling single malts in Asia and a benchmark of the approachable, rich Highland style. The distillery underwent a major refurbishment and opened a new visitor centre, offering immersive tours that explore the Slow Craft production process that defines the Singleton character. The distillery sits close to GlenWyvis and Dalmore, making the Muir of Ord and Dingwall area one of the most concentrated whisky corridors in the Northern Highlands. The surrounding barley fields and the Black Isle's fertile farmland have supplied the distillery with grain for nearly two centuries.
